If you want to follow into Giono’s steps, you can find an itinary in Manosque. His birthplace is at number 44, rue Grande, while his own house called « Lou Paraïs » lies on Vraie-Richesses street. Many exhibitions dedicated to him take place in Giono’s center (rue Elemir Bourges). A tower near Saint-Sauver’s church was used as a shelter in his famous novel.
Manosque is typical of Provence with a slight aristocratic flavor. Do not miss these two monuments : Saunerie gate which leads to the old town and Notre-Dame’s church, with its Renaissance gate. |
