Since its founding in the XIII century, the town has developed while protecting its environment. The many villas and casinos appeared but the pine trees along the bay have remained. Let’s not forget thar all year long, Carry celebrates its favorite seafood : sea urchins ! French comedian Fernandel was very fond of this local dish.
Standing on the Virgin Mary’s plateau , the tower was used as a watchtower for the ships cruising nearby. In the Middle Ages, smoke was used to warn the other watchtowers (like the one in Marseille). In 1663, Notre-Dame-du-Rouet’s chapel was built nearby.
