Banon
There’s no decent cheeseboard without Banon’s goat cheese, which is wrapped in a chestnut tree leaf. This delicious cheese is made in this small medieval village between mount Ventoux and mount of Lure, where goats feed.

The cheeses are dryed out and then covered with herbs and dipped in grape licor. They are then wrapped. A festival takes place every july. 600 000 cheeses are produced every year.
Before or after tasting it, don’t miss Banon’s fortified site with its small streets, its typical arches and its old gates. You can discover the relics of walls from the XV century and of a gate from the XIV century. From the square of the former hospital, you can see the whole region. |
