The cave of the “Baume Obscure” will take you up to 60 meters underground. You will be given the occassion to see some magnificent stalactites and stalagmites. They are coloured red due to the presence of oxygen in the rocks. Your imagination will make you see interesting forms such as mushrooms, animals and the other plants. The visit follows a stream that winds between the cliffs.
Another cave, that of the Audides, that is even more impressive evenalthough it only reaches a depth of 40 meters. This cave was only discovered in 1988 but there are traces that indicate that the cave was inhabited during prehistoric times. To reach the centre of the cave, you have to go down a stairway with 279 steps. Between the narrow passages many magnificent rooms can be discovered.
At the end of the walk, one finds a definitive stop because it ends on an abysse. Once returned to the surface, more can be learnt about the caves by visiting the prehistoric park. |
