The oceanographical Museum of Monaco has one of the oldest aquariums of Europe. Since 1903, fish and invertebrates of the Mediterranean were preserved and protected by the museum, and in 1931, of tropical fish were presented for the first time at the public.
Today, the 90 basins offered to the visitors are as many windows open on the Mediterranean and the tropical seas. With through accurately reconstituted ecosystems, the marine universe reveals its secrecies but also its beauty and its diversity. The collection is rich of 350 fish species is more than 6000 specimens, 200 species of invertebrates, and 100 tropical coral species.
