The palace, which was named as the Pharo Palace, was located on the Maure promontory. This was a section of the land that was presented to Napoleon by the residents of Marseilles. The gardens, which are known to offer among the great sights in Marseilles, surrounds the magnificent palace and boasts of an incredible view of the city and the harbour. There are also facilities and amenities in the gardens that are sure to provide great fun to families with kids. There is a merry-go-round, a children's play area and a refreshment stall. For a bit of history, there is also a monument at the gardens by Andre Verdilhan that was erected opposite Fort St-Jean, which commemorates the victims of the sea. |
